HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY YOUNGEST CHILD! For some reason the fact that my baby is now 12 is more poignant than the realization that my oldest is 27. I think, perhaps, because as you are growing and changing I am putting the years of caring for babies and nurturing young children behind me. You are it. You are the last. Doors are closing and chapters are ending. And that makes me a bit sad, because I loved being in those rooms and reading those chapters. Yet, just look at you. You are growing so strong and mature. You have the world ahead of you and life, with its endless possibilities, is opening up before you. What will you write on those blank pages? My prayer for you is that you fill them with acts of kindness and love, that you serve God and others, that you continue to be healthy in body, mind and spirit, that you leave the world a better place than you find it. And that as a parent, I get to see it come to pass.
