Dear Lori, This delightful childrens story remains to this day, in my mind and heart, the magical, make believe world, upon which the celebration of my birth rests. Each year, on my special day, this great bird would leap onto my bedroom windowsill, and jump into my imagination, as my father would read this book, cover to cover to me, his fairy princess, and off we would go, wide-eyed, into this very strange, and exuberant, serendipitous world of odd creatures, and happy joy; All of whom, were celebrating, on grand scale, the birth of me! I carried the tradition of reading this story to each of my children, all through their childhood, on their own special day, the day they were born. As your birthday comes to its close, remember how special a place this world is because YOU, Lori, are in it; For, where would we be, in this huge, scary place, without the yous, and the mes, to brighten up this life for our fellow travelers, our families, our friends, and yes, yes, our amazing animal kingdom??
