HAPPY FOUNDERS DAY 107 years ago TWENTY courageous women with extraordinary vision stepped out of the shadows of slavery and raised the academic, economic, and social consciousness of African American women. On January 15, 1908 those TWENTY historic trailblazers shattered the chains of limitations by founding ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA Sorority, Incorporated; the first Greek lettered Sorority for African American women. On that day, those TWENTY heroic women became beacons of light and inspiration that embodied the promise of hope for a powerful and unbounded future. Those TWENTY women forever changed the course of history and gave new meaning to the word Sisterhood. From their bosom grew a legacy of over 260,000 women that span the globe providing “Service to All Mankind.” Today we honor and celebrate the wondrous and beautiful spirit of those women…our beloved TWENTY PEARLS. From Ethel Hedgeman Lyle to Michelle Obama my dear Alpha Kappa Alpha you are the torch that has illuminated the path of women all over the world. An Alpha Kappa Alpha woman is Intelligent, Classy, Elegant, Timeless, Fearless, Compassionate, and Loyal. She is Wise and Brilliant beyond her years. My beloved ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA you will remain forever in my heart. HAPPY FOUNDER’S DAY SORORS!!! We are 107 years strong…the LEGACY continues!!! To my dear Zeta Eta I love you with all of my heart. To all of the Sorors that came before me I say thank you for leaving footsteps that created a path for me and millions of future Pearls to follow. SPR 91 ZH African Queen
