HAPPY GOLDEN JUBILEE ZAMBIA, HAPPY 50th INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY !!! Independence is generally the freedom to organise your own life. The freedom to make your own decisions. It should be noted from the onset that freedom is never FREE neither will it be attained on a silver platter - Simply put, there is no independence without sacrifice. Today Zambia celebrates her 50th Anniversary and I must stress that this is a very important day on our calender for us as a Nation. It is on this DAY that we celebrate the lives of our gallant men and women who fought for our freedom from colonial rule. We celebrate men and women who had put their lives on the grinding mill for the sake of the future of this great Nation - they had the future in mind - they had you and I in mind. During the struggle for independence, many lost their lives, some where left disabled while others were sent to jail as political prisoners. These Heroes and Heroines had reached a point in life where they said enough is enough - a stage they had made up there minds and said no more to oppression and racism. Beloveds, until you are greatly distressed, you will not breakthrough! They had reached a point that was going to translate Martin Luther Kings dream into a reality, when he said, I have a dream! A dream that one day all men shall be equal and no one shall be judged according to the colour of their skin but according to the contents of their brain. POLITICAL INDEPENDENCE when we talk of political independence, we are simply talking of gaining the right to self-rule from our colonial masters. It is freedom from political control by other countries. We are talking about being in charge of our own affairs thereby determining our own fate. We may not be economically independent but we are politically independent and therefore, I see every need for us to celebrate. ECONOMICAL INDEPENDENCE This simply means the provision of good services or value in relation to the amount of time or money spent. It is about using no more of something than is necessary. When we talk of economical independence at national level, we are referring to freedom in terms of trade, industry and development of wealth of à country or an area of society. SPIRITUAL INDEPENDENCE
