HAPPY REFORMATION DAY! On October 31, 1517, Luther posted his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. Although Luther’s ideas grew rapidly and the printing of the Bible caused a deadly wound to Roman Catholicism, that wound has been healing quickly in our day. Don’t allow that awesome heritage to be so easily hijacked by pagan influence without a whimper, especially today. We should honor and remember those who are the true heroes of the early days of Protestantism, before it too became contaminated; for many spilled their blood and ink to give us the scripture in our common vernacular. We who are within range of the English language have of late been subject to those who would use much ink and empty rhetoric to dilute the authenticity of that which cost so much to obtain. The recent critical thinking elite and textual critics have poured out no blood at all to defend any truth but demand that we trust their appraisal of the ancient writ. It is given to every person to pour over the word for himself, (preferably Textus Reseptus) so as to honor the efforts of those early champions who made eternal knowledge available to us today. Thanks to God it can now, through studious consumption, be grasped without religious supervision or needless controversy.
