HARRY POTTER magic events, exhibits, prizes...and much MORE...at Metro State Library - all public are invited to participate! Events associated with the exhibit include: Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine, an exhibit by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health is on exhibit in the Library and Learning Center first floor lobby until February 23rd. The exhibit uses examples from the Harry Potter book series to explore Renaissance ideas about science and medicine. Renaissance science and medicine was marked by the rise of empiricism and rationalism and influenced by occultism and hermeticism. Disciplines that readily link with the exhibit are history of science and medicine, humanities, philosophy, chemistry, physics, biology, nursing, psychology, and literature. For additional learning resources check out the Library Guide at libguides.metrostate.edu/HarryPotter. • Harry Potter Trivia Contest: January 21-28. Test your Harry Potter knowledge as we post one trivia question a day on at https://facebook/metrostatelibrary and in the first floor lobby of the Library. At the end of the contest period we will randomly select winners from correctly answered entries. Prizes include: a 7in. Kindle Fire HD, a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant - Ward 6, and two $20 gift certificates to Swede Hollow Café. Bring your family and join us at the MSU Library and Learning Center for an evening of Harry Potter themed fun! Visit the Owlery run by the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. Spend some time in Care of Magical Creatures class taught by Monty’s Traveling Reptile Show. Make your own wand and golden snitch and then tour the Metro grounds dressed in costume.
