HAVAs little gentleman, Jamie, is heading in for surgery tomorrow. Its been a long and stressful 3 weeks for his foster family but we are all greatly relieved to have found the issue and to be able to fix it. On Oct. 6th, Jamie started vomiting uncontrollably, went to vet, vitals good, normal bowel movements, so went home. Withheld food for 48 hours, then rice, suspecting he ate a nasty gift from the crows (they like to drop stuff). Stable for a week and half, then more vomiting. Back to vet where he stayed for 3 days getting fluids replaced, still having BMs so no blockage suspected. Back at home, he would only eat his canned I/D Gastro food and spent most of his time sleeping under a blanket on the couch. No vomiting so we were giving it time so long as he was eating and drinking. Our poor boy has lost an excessive amount of weight so we have been keeping a close eye on him and when he started vomiting again last night he was taken back to vet where they did X Rays and found a partial blockage. These are remnants of his girl, Maggies halter that disappeared some time ago from the top of the piano (yes). Jamie goes in for surgery tomorrow afternoon after spending the day/night getting fluids and electrolytes pumped in to help him get through the surgery. Jamies vet bill is taking a big chunk out of HAVAs fund that will total over $1,500 (which is extremely reasonable, all things considered!).
