HAWKS WIN!!! HAWKS WIN!!! 5-4 over the Coyotes in a shootout at the UC to run their winning streak to 4 straight and the point streak to 8 in a row. Brandon Saad scored following his own rebound less than three minutes into the 1st period off assists by Kane and Leddy. That was followed up by a Patrick Sharp Power Play goal from the point, thanks to a great give and go with Tazer. Kane also had an assist giving him two in the first seven minutes of the game. Phoenix came battling back with two goals of their own to tie the game at 2 after 20 minutes. The new daddy for the second time, Marian Hossa, scored at the 5:05 mark of the 2nd to put the Hawks back up 3-2. Yet again, the Coyotes had an answer and after goals by Lauri Korpikoski and Michael Stone, the visitors went into the locker room up 4-3 at the end of the 2nd. The 3rd period saw a barrage of Blackhawks shots, 17 in all, but only Brandon Pirris redirect of a Brent Seabrook snapshot found the back of the net. That play was kept alive by a great play by Nick Leddy to hold the puck in the zone. So, they went to OT tied at 4. Corey Crawford with 26 in a winning effort, though it wasnt Crows best performance he stepped up when needed. Mike Smith was tremendous for the Coyotes all night making 48 saves, but not the most important one! After Tazer and Vrbata each scored, the goalies made saves to force a sudden death shootout and Brandon Pirri gets the game winner, going five-hole on Smith. The Hawks head down to SMASHVILLE on Saturday to take on the Predators in a divisional matchup.
