HAZMAT in Australia on Thursday, Description One person is dead and eight people were hospitalised after being exposed to hydrogen sulphide at a motel north of Melbourne overnight. Police were called to the Sunbury Motor Inn when a guest complained of a toxic smell. Police investigated and found a woman dead in a motel room. The dead woman had used the chemical and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Police officers were helping to evacuate from the motel when they and some guests were overcome by the fumes. Eight people, including two officers, were taken to hospital for checks after experiencing respiratory problems.
