HBCUs are Black businesses that get their primary source of income - TopicsExpress

HBCUs are Black businesses that get their primary source of income from black students(consumers). HBCUs put out more college educated black youth than all of the general non black institutions combined. Rap artist Dr. Dre, who has made his money primarily through exploring & exploiting the problems of the black community and subsequently off the dollars used by that same community to purchase his tapes, albums & cds, has presented a combined endowment of 70+ million dollars to USC instead of an HBCU. Dillard University President, Dr. Walter Kimbrough spoke out about the endowment and Dr. Boyce Watkins interviewed Dr. Kimbrough on his internet radio show. The question beckons, does Dr. Dre have an inherent responsibility to use his funds to give back to the community that supported his rise to fame? Listen to Dr. Kimbroughs compelling discussion about why he feels that Dr. Dre and other entertainers should include more HBCUs in their philanthropic efforts.
