HE TOUCHED ME Have you known those who dont really care for hugs or to even be touched? Most people enjoy a hug now and then to comfort them or just as a sign of friendship, but there are some who have an aversion to being touched. Sometimes its related to a childhood event that makes them cautious of physical intimacy. Sometimes its the result of a medical condition, such as autism, that makes closeness, specifically touching, scary or even painful! But there are methods to break through the barriers that were erected as the result of painful past events; one of those methods is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). With CBT the injured party can retrain their mind from fear to acceptance of safe, friendly shows of affection. When Jesus reached out to heal the leper who begged Him for healing, His touching a person considered unclean was unheard of! It took some serious CBT on the part of disciples to accept the fact that their Master would touch the unclean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. (Mark 1:41 KJV). Centuries before the discovery of germs and the value of hand-washing, God instructed His people to not touch certain items considered unclean, and today those same things are known to cause disease. However, as unclean as we are as the result of sin, Jesus will reach out with His same healing hand to make us clean in the eyes of the Father! But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. (2 Thessalonians 3:3-4 KJV). Perhaps you cant recall when you first felt the touch of the Saviors hand, but maybe you do...
