HEADS UP PEOPLE: Dear Friends of Maoland As you know Marinela after 30 years has been forced by the local Mayor to vacate the Garden area where laterally she has kept approximately maximum 70 dogs safe. The same Mayor that secured the large Maoland Shelter area for her as the local shelter for Harsova, that promised to pay the rent and pay for the neutering and spaying of any homeless dogs taken there. Needless to say he kept none of these promises. So after 30 years using this garden area for her family when children and a safe haven for the dogs , she was given 10 days to vacate (27/07/2013) and move all the dogs, with no help offered by him. Marinela is 60 years of age (or will be in September) has a heart problem, does not drive or own a vehicle but was expected to move lock stock and barrel all the dogs, their kennels and all the paraphernalia associated with being in a particular place for 30 years. The gentleman who owns the large shelter area has been very patient and is currently taking legal action against The Mayor for non payment of rent. When I was there I met with him along with Marinela and Andreea and we agreed that Maoland would pay direct to him a monthly rental of 300 Euros. He was I found a very lovely man and sadly he is also suffering from a terminal illness. He is therefore only guaranteeing Marinela the shelter area for approximately a further 12 months as he wishes at that time to try and sell it. So we have been looking at possible other sites to relocate Maoland to and we now have two that we are very interested in, one more so than the other, 3,000 square meters with electricity connected and water nearby that can easily be linked. The base is concreted so that is a bonus and there are buildings that can also be converted for both kennelling and living. It is also fully fenced and there are grounds with Trees and undergrowth. At the moment I do not want to post pictures until such time as Marinela can speak in more depth with the owner. This hopefully will be soon as soon as she has everything at the Garden area cleared and all dogs moved into new pens being built at the Large shelter area. Obviously all o this means that we need to raise funds. I am prepared to put up the monies (with a sealing) for the purchase of the new site and have donated funds so that new wire mesh panels can be bought for the dogs being moved. However, we need to be forward thinking and start a fund now for the ultimate move as well as more wire mesh and kennels for the dogs currently being moved. In this I will shortly be making an event to raise funds and would be happy for any suggestions on how best this could be achieved.
