*** HEADS UP TASMANIANS AS VICIOUS DAMAGING/DESTRUCTIVE (100KIM/H+) WINDS IS EXPECTED TO HIT THE APPLE ISLE MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY WITH TUESDAY BEING THE WORST OF THE THREE DAYS *** Tasmanians get ready as a very windy period of weather is coming up as a high moves into the Tasman sea and a couple of strong cold fronts move through Tasmania. The first of the fronts will move through early on Monday bringing some windy weather and some bringing windy weather, showers/rain statewide, hail about the west and possibly southern parts, snow down to 900-1000 metres. if you think Monday is nasty Tuesday is expected to step up even further as an even stronger cold front crosses the apple isle with vicious north west to westerly winds tending west to south westerly, these winds have the potential to be damaging and destructive as the majority of the models show winds possibly reaching 130km/h to 150km/h in western and southern parts during Tuesday. Further rain and showers will be associated with this front with western areas possibly seeing falls of 20-50mm and 5 to 20mm rest of the state during Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will plummet further and snowfalls are expected to fall to 600 metres. Hail and thunder is possible with the colder air. Winds will ease somewhat on Wednesday but will remain strong from the west showers will continue about western and southern parts and possibly northern parts during the day and once again at night as another front whizzes through. Conditions will finally ease back by Thursday as a high ridge moves over Victoria. Thanks to the severe winds swells/waves will become extremely high off the south coast of Tasmania late on Tuesday with the Auswave model forecasting 10-20 metres off the south coast! Make sure you take pre cautions to secure any loose objects over the coming days with these expected ferocious winds.
