HEAR IT DIRECT FROM THE VISIONARY MAN OBUH HIMSELF WHO HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO PUT SMILES ON OUR FACES ABOVE OTHERS. Our government will establish good and qualitative leadership that is characterized by friendly policies, people-oriented projects, accelerated commerce through micro-finance loans, rural development, job creation, opening of new roads in the rural areas, rebuild and rehabilitate schools to enhance educational development; respect for the work-force and job security for public servants. We will continue to ensure the security of lives and property of people at all times with adherence to the principles of the rule of law, thereby ensuring equity, justice and fair play. It has become apparent that we cannot continue to rely on statutory allocation from the Federation Account. We believe that the State can realize huge revenue receipts from internally generated revenue, which is the backbone for the sustenance of the economic and infrastructural development of contemporary societies like ours. We will therefore take concrete steps to reinvigorate and energize our internal revenue generation system. My blueprint on sustainable development of the State is anchored on my SET agenda, SERVICE, EMPOWERMENT and TRANSFORMATION, which is all about the core issues of concern to the people of Delta State. Our policies, programmes and projects would be built around the economic development strategy of Delta Beyond Oil. Its key elements include the building of strategic infrastructure to diversify the economy of the State from oil-dependence to a non-oil dependent economy. It also includes deliberate cultivation of conditions for private sector investments and where necessary, to engage in Public Private Partnership (PPP) in key sectors with a view to expanding the industrial base of the State and creating jobs.I do not envisage that the journey towards achieving this objective would be easy. But with the foundation already laid, coupled with your support and the credible leadership, I pledge to give a new trajectory of progress to ensue it becomes achievable. I am aware of the large cultivable lands around us which stands us in good stead. If properly harnessed, it could be a vital tool in our quest for a Delta Beyond Oil. In recognition of the fact that oil is an exhaustible resource, our administration will encourage the growth of agriculture through sustaining and strengthening of existing agricultural infrastructure. Communities will be encouraged to concentrate on areas of comparative advantage. Our policy thrust will focus on strategic agricultural production and support across the value chain through agri-business market identification and entry strategies, export promotion and market development, agricultural extension and training, including storage, processing, packaging and transportation of fresh and perishable produce to minimize post-harvest losses. To boost agriculture and at the same time industrialization, major emphasis will be laid on agro-based industries. A lot of agricultural products are produced within the State. Our ability to process these farm produce will no doubt create job opportunities for our youths. SUPPORT HIM IN TOTALITY FOR BETTER DELTA! WE CAN MAKE IT WORK!!
