HEAR YE, HEAR YE! Announcement Time! (Brace yourself, its a long-winded announcement.) 1. kINGMAKER gAMES WILL BE cAPS lOCKED... sorry 1a. Kingmaker Games will be closed Sunday, Spetember 14th through Tuesday the 16th. We will reopen on Wednesday with a fresh outlook on the world and perhaps a bit less malice in our hearts. (The truth is, Im tired and I need a break. I havent had a real vacation since last October and I think its beginning to show. With an exciting new set on the way I felt this was a good time to quick-charge my tolerance for humans batteries and to get some perspective on things.) 2. All the States! (aka States, youre Fracking-Up my Christmas) This year there are 2 Maine State Championship Events. the first is on October 4th at Crossroad Games: facebook/events/628914400556241/ The second is on October 11th at Game-On Cafe: facebook/events/764857130240985/ Heres the issue... We know States happens in October. However, when I created the schedule for our Kingmaker Games Series Playoffs (last December) I didnt factor in two States events. This is why the Series 3 Playoffs are on the same day as States, October 4th. I created the Championship as a local event for our local players. Anyone can grind the Pro-Tour, but most FNM-ers are only going as far as their local shops can take them. I wanted to offer a pro-like experience with a level of local competition in a fun atmosphere. The results have been very positive and Im very happy with the event and its legacy. As we come to the end of our third year of series play, I have to make a few decisions. I could force my players to make a choice between the Invitational and going to States or postpone the event. Part of me does not want to bend to the greater will, but I support the Maine Magic community and I truly believe in the tradition of States and what that means to our players. Therefore... 3. The Kingmaker Games Invitational Championship Series 3 Playoff has been postponed until Sunday, October 5th. Doors open at 9 am and the start time is 10 am. This is not a decision I make lightly. If anyone who already has qualified can not attend, please let us know as soon as possible so I can notify the alternates. Also... 4. The Kingmaker Games Invitational Championship Last Chance Qualifier has been postponed until Saturday, October 18th. This event will be blended into the Khans of Takir Game Day which is also scheduled for that day. More information on that soon. 5. All your cubes are belong to us. I have taken control of the Pauper Cube and will no longer be following the Adam Styborski list. Adams list will still serve as the inspiration for our mighty pauper cube, but I would like to take it down another path. Too often in the last few updates have I disagreed with the philosophical direction of Adams Cube. When I am finished updating it I will post the results and findings on our FB page with updates occurring after each new set is released. It should be fun. In other cube news, Kingmaker Games is constructing a new Ünder-Power Cube. It will consist of many sweet cards and be geared to accommodate both 1v1 and multiplayer. I am basing the deck off of the Conspiracy set and will be looking to add a great deal of sweet cards over the next year. More on that in the future... Lastly in cube-based news, The Brick (our Type-4 Deck) will be getting a major overhaul after the release of Khans of Takir. I will be expanding the size and scope of The Brick, making use of the new Clans and bringing back some old favorites. I will also be posting some information about the process of creating and maintaining a casual Type-4 Cube starting in November. 6. Thanks for hanging in there with us. I hope to see as many of you as possible for Modern Constructed FNM this Friday at 6 pm and maybe for some EDH on Saturday starting at 1 pm. -Shannon
