HEARING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN – September 2014 “I Love SOUND” The Carel du Toit Centre with the South African Association of Audiologists (SAAA) and the Speech and Audiology Department, Frere Hospital are joining forces to spread the message: “We should love sound & never take our ability to hear for granted.” Vincent Park Shopping Center (The dome area) 4 - 6 September 2014 Thursday & Friday (11:00-17:00) Saturday (9:00-14:00) We have an ART competition with the theme ‘I love sound‘ where ’Grade R learners from schools in the East London area have been invited to participate. The best of these art works will be exhibited at our stand. We are inviting the public to come and vote for the three best entries who will each win a prize! Voting closes on Saturday at 12:00. The three winners will also go into a lucky draw for a voucher worth R500 for the school they attend! At the stand we will also be introducing the public to the “Shake your Sugar” concept! The idea is firstly to shake a sugar sachet to see if you can hear it with both ears and secondly to encourage you to take responsibility for your own hearing (e.g. use hearing protection and get your hearing tested). Audiologists are the professionals who are qualified to test and advise all age groups on hearing and hearing related issues (e.g. Tinnitus)! We want the public to know where to find an Audiologist should they need one!
