HEART-SHAPED MEATLOAF Several years ago, Alka-Seltzer had a clever series of commercials on indigestion relief. One of the funniest involved a new bride fixing her first meal. She made a meatloaf in the shape of a heart and put the majority of it on her husbands plate. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, he cleaned his plate. The last scene shows him sitting on the edge of the bed holding a glass of Alka-seltzer and he says, I cant believe I ate the whole thing! I thought of this commercial when I was reading about the flight of the Israelites from Egypt. Their instructions were to pick a spotless lamb and cook it, then they were told to eat the whole thing. This was probably possible since they didnt fix a lot of extra side dishes, just the lamb. If one family had more than they could eat, they invited others to join them. This meal represents our relationship with Jesus. He is the perfect, spotless Lamb. We must not add anything to Jesus, it must be Him only. Then we must take all of Jesus, not just the part of Him which fits into our schedules. It boils down to the fact that if Jesus is not Lord OF all, He is not Lord AT all. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father (Philippians 2:10-11).
