HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS by Peter Chelsom CAST: Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike MISS KITTY SCORE: 3 out of 5 Based on the novel of the same name by Francois Lelord, this is a joyful jaunt. Hector is a quirky psychiatrist who has become increasingly tired of his humdrum life, so he goes out in search of himself on a journey that takes him to China, Africa and Los Angeles in search of the secret formula to being happy. On the way he has some quirky and alarming adventures. Probably best remembered for his roles in Shaun of the Dead and Run Fatboy Run, Pegg is a gentle, cuddly kind of hero that generates chuckles more than belly laughs. Pike has just scared the pants off us as the sociopathic Amy in the thriller Gone Girl, but although her character Clara is tad neurotic, she is much more lovable than her previous role. Its a feel-good movie with sometimes deep and insightful commentary on the meaning of happiness.
