HELLO ALL FELLOW DRIVERS - this is what prompted me to write such a loooong post. POST COMMENTS AND SHARE YOUR VIEWS After reading a sad story of how many people got injured/killed in a serial accident - It set me off thinking that - What is more killing - The borderlines of a nation or the Streets with Hi-SPeed drivers - Chances are you will survive a frontline of war than survive on these streets. Wonder whats with this drivers. They seem to have no clue absolutely whatsoever about driving. JUST GET IN , PUMP THE GAS AND GO. I wonder who is giving them a Gold medal or a trophy on the other Side !! I confess that I am guilty of speeds in excess of 190 and 220 on a few occasions- especially when there is a clear line of sight and the road is flat with a good visibility of at least the BRAKING DISTANCE IN CASE SOMETHING COMES UP OUT OF THE BLUE !! I remember the days when Bangalore/Mysore was a single track with bi-directional traffic on the same road - heavy traffic still prevailed - it used to be like playing a video game - the accidents would occur usually early morning or late night. Very little in day time. People still sped. Guess instead of fining these guys for speeding - take them and form a National team of RACE DRIVERS who can represent the country and at least win some Automotive racing Trophies. Who takes up the responsibility of these nasty fatal accidents that kill and maim people. Need for speed yes. Not at the cost of other lives Where do we start fixing this largely ignored killer ? Driving Schools, RTOs, Manufacturers, Drivers, Parents ? Overtaking from the left side. Cutting abruptly and wishing the driver behind will stop. Excessive aggression when not needed Sad that the driving schools dont teach anything more than switching gears and accelerating. Not one school teaches how to drive with etiquette. AND DEFINITELY SKILLS THAT CAN SAVE YOU AND THE OTHERS INCASE OF AN ACCIDENT AND HOW TO AVOID THEM. All they care and instruct are : 20 days of 30 mins driving everyday Apply for the LL After 25 days pay xxxx and get your DL - Another xxx and you get the DL by end of day I sure love to be racing but not always. Given the fact I drive fast but not furiously. I have always been saved by sense and sensibility Auto Manufacturers - Cost cutting at the cost of lives ? Auto manufacturers instead of focusing on mileage and higher powered vehicles focus on safety and lives. Many people ask me why I like old cars - the reason is simple - They have METAL built into them that can save the passengers - Airbags/Seatbelts alone don’t save people - After a 100 KMph Airbags and Seatbelts are there as SRS Secondary Restraint Systems - Not PRIMARY When we say SRS it simply means that the PRIMARY ONUS is on US AS DRIVERS TO WATCH IT and not be over confident and feel INVINCIBLE and find 99 ways to die on the road. NO matter what - As drivers we can do these steps to ensure we save our selves and the others ! - Drive with this rule in mind - I HAVE A RIGHT TO KILL MYSELF - NOT OTHERS CHECK YOUR VEHICLE - ESPECIALLY - THE OIL, MECHANICAL PARTS - ESPECIALLY THE - BRAKING SYSTEM, THE CLUTCH ACTION, BRAKE SHOES/PADS, BRAKE ROTORS AND DO NOT COMPROMISE ON PARTS - IF YOUR MECHANIC SAYS THAT IT WILL GO FOR A FEW MORE KMS - ITS TIME TO CHANGE YOUR MECHANIC - OR INSIST IT BE CHANGED IMMEDIATELY INFRONT OF YOU - IF ITS A TRUSTWORTHY MECHANIC - STILL REMEMBER ITS YOUR LIFE AT STAKE. NEXT BIGGEST KILLER - TYRES - They do cost a LOT I AGREE- BUT DO NOT COMPROMISE ON THEM - ON ANY VEHICLE ESP THE BIGGER CARS (SUVS, SEDANS AND SO ON) DONT PUSH YOUR LUCK - BUY GENUINE - MOST CRASHES OF LOSS OF CONTROL HAPPEN DUE TO TYRES BURSTING. The ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS OF YOUR CAR ARE DESIGNED TO KEEP YOU SAFE IN THE MOST ADVERSE CONDITIONS. THE TYRES DONT TAKE THE BEATING ( I Personally have tried and used - Bridgestone - ER, YOKOHOMA, YOKOHOMA (ADVAN - REALLY GOOD ONES), MICHELLIN. THE tyre dealer will tell you plenty of good stuff about other tyres and will sell it to you at a lower price - BUT WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY ? MONEY OR LIFE ? Know what your vehicle can do and can not do - This is more important than driving itself - Its good to see excellent specs for the the vehicle like 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and so on - KEEP IN MIND - A GOOD DRIVER IS ONE WHO REACHES THE OTHER SIDE IN ONE PIECE - Even if a lil delayed. LIVES TO DRIVE ANOTHER DAY MOST STUNTS SHOWN ON TV COMMERCIALS - WATCH CAREFULLY - THERE IS NO BODY ON THE ROAD EXCEPT THAT CAR AND IN ISOLATED ENVIRONMENTS. ULTIMATELY - DO NOT COMPROMISE ON YOUR SAFETY AND PARTS - The equation is Simple - VEHICLE + SKILL + RESPONSIBILITY = 100% SAFE (30%) + (40%) + (30%) = 100 Responsibility comes at home Sense comes from Education (In this case driving schools - THEY MUST INSIST ON TEACHING ETIQUETTE AND PATIENCE) Information comes from READING THE OWNERS GUIDE OF THE VEHICLE But as usual - DRIVE SAFE BECAUSE MOST OF US DO NOT READ THE OWNERS GUIDE ALTHOUGH WE LIKE TO THINK WE DO. Just think for a minute when we get on EGO TRIPS WITH OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADS - ( I AM GUILTY TOO !!) NOW I IGNORE AND LET ANYONE PASS IF THEY WANT TO AND IF THEY PERSIST - I JUST TAIL THEM WITHOUT EVER HONKING OR OVERTAKING THEM - THIS I HAVE SEEN USUALLY DOES THE TRICK - THEY GENERALLY LET YOU PASS - BECAUSE I GUESS IT TRICKS THEM INTO THINKING ALL KINDS OF THINGS AND AT ONE POINT EITHER THEY YEILD OR WILL GET OUT OF YOUR WAY. CABS - AVOID THESE GUYS - IF THEY WANT TO GO - LET EM GO - I HAVE SEEN A FEW CRASHES WHEN THEY OVERTAKE AND THE REST OF THE STORY IS IN THE NEWS PAPERS There are only two kinds of drivers - GOOD/BAD (NOT MALE/FEMALE) GOOD ONES - Who care for their LIVES and Vehicles AND REACH THE OTHER SIDE IN ONE Peice BAD ONES - WHO DONT CARE FOR THEMSELVES OR ANYONE ELSE - WILL BE STUPID JERKS WHEN THEY DRIVE GOING HERE THERE EVERYWHERE IN ONE DIRECTION - I PLEDGE TO BE A GOOD ONE - WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY OTHERS ACTION - I WONT INTIMIDATE - I WILL DRIVES SENSIBLY I AM A DRIVER NOT A MURDERER !!
