HELP! For the past year or so, Roger and his Cub Scout den in Halstead have been working on a major project commemorating the 50th anniversary of NASAs final Mercury space capsule mission. The boys have been to the Cosmosphere to film themselves recreating the mission. Theyve shot rockets and built models. The culmination of this project was to be the launch of a weather balloon fitted with video cameras up into the atmosphere this Veterans Day (weather permitting). The contraption is built, but theyve hit a snag. Due to the helium shortage, they are not able to purchase the quantity of helium that they need to launch the balloon. Helium producers are not currently able to sell to the private sector. The Pack needs approximately 100 cubic feet of helium to complete this project. If anyone has any suggestions, sources or a secret stash of helium that they are willing to allow access to, please let us know! They have put a lot of work into planning, creating, and fundraising! We would hate for their project to be grounded due to this hiccup! Feel free to share this post! You never know who might have the answer!
