HELP! How do you help a boys reading level improve when he hates - TopicsExpress

HELP! How do you help a boys reading level improve when he hates novels? All he wants to do is read kid books to his little sisters, or informational books and I try book after book with him and he cant get past the first chapter before he hates it. Reading those books he has been reading is not helping him progress- so we need to try something different. We have been EXTREMELY consistent on reading 20 minutes everyday- and I think he is falling behind on his reading level.
