HELP! I have been doing a ton of research on my hair these past 24 hours trying to understand it better because things arent working as I would like it to. This is what I have compiled: My hair has low/normal porosity (has characteristics of both if thats possible), medium density, normal to dry hair (on the drier end of things due to winter), straight with some waves, fine but thick, dry ends with soft roots, color treated, and chin length. I started this whole low/no poo process because I want my hair healthy and to GROW. In August, I went low poo using Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and Conditioner. I was able to go three days between washes and my hair loved it! Already I have noticed more growth and at a faster pace but I still wanted to go no poo. I tried BS and the ACV rinse. Terrible. I cant remember the measurements now but my hair felt brittle and dry and it smelled weird. So I tried Honey because I like honey :) That didnt work either. Left my hair feeling heavy and greasy and waxy almost immediately after my shower. I then turned to shampoo bars. I purchased the Ayurvedic Herb from Chagrin Valley and used that with an herbal tea rinse. Used it twice (every 4ish days) and while my hair was amazingly clean it was incredibly staticy with dry ends. After some advice from you all, I did a hair mask using honey and just a tiny bit (and I mean tiny!) of olive oil which helped my hair. I then tried the Ayurvedic Herb bar again with a black tea rinse. Results were better (no static) but still have dry ends! At this point I was getting frustrated. I got online to check the water. To my dismay, I had been lied to when I spoke to the water company over the phone. Columbia, MO has hard water with a pH level of 8.9. This explains a lot of my failure I guess. Where do I go from here? I looked into the hard water file but I cant do some of the suggestion due to apartment living and I rather not go back to BS and ACV. Im frustrated and need some guidance...
