HELP ME OUT BIBLE SCHOLARS As I read the creation account in the book of Genesis 1, something seems to boggle my mind and I think trying to reconcile it till I can not think anymore and therefore I thought I should invite bible scholars to engage me on this matter so that I finally gain the clarity needed to move on. The main point of my confusion is on the part of light in the creation story and let me attempt to develop my question as follows: Genesis 1:1-3 gives us an account of the creation of light and the condition of the world before the light had actually been made In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [Please take note of the following verse, verse 3]. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Nowaccording to my understanding, I take it and interpret the above text as telling me that the first thing to be created was light. Now the bible does not go in depths to explain the sort and kind of light that is here refered to and therefore my mind quickly comes to the conclusion that the only medium that produces light has always been the sun. I therefore take it as if the sun is the source of light because I know of no other besides the sun. However, having said the above, as I read on in the Holy Pentateuch I am confronted by verses 14-16 of the same chapter which is where the confusion in my mind begins. The confusion is brought about by the fact that it is only then, on the third day that the sun (Great Light) and moon (Lesser Light) is created. Now mind you from day one to this day, the Bible kept on refering to the saying that evening and the morning were the ........ day and again in my mind I understand these two as being caused by the setting and rising of the sun. Verses 14-16 state: And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights, yhe greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. My questions that rage in my mind are thus: 1. What was the light created on the first day is only the sun and moon were created on the third day? NOTE: [Some I have asked this have said that light was Christ and if one also hold this understanding, then are you actually telling me that Christ was created? Before creation was there no Christ and what does this understanding say about the doctrine of Trinity if only Christ is introduced and created at the time of creation] 2. The logical understanding is that day and night is caused by the rotation of the earth around the sun and therefore if these lights were only created on the third day, how did the first and second day come about when there was no sun? Please assist me reconcile these texts scholars and lets engage.....
