HELP (Please Post Anonymously) After a childhood of abuse and an abusive relationship spanning from 2001-2012, I finally sought help from a therapist. The only one that my insurance would cover is a social worker who used to work in a Suboxone clinic. I am beginning to question her prescription suggestions. She told me I have PTSD, Inattentive ADD, and Depression. She tells the ,doctor what meds she thinks will help me and the doctor writes them. I was prescribed Zoloft 100mg/day, Seroquel 50-100mg/night, Prazosin 4mg/night (for nightmares), and Adderall 20mg/day (for ADD). I looked up Seroquel and was horrified! It has caused a staggering number of deaths related to cardiac arrests during sleep if taken while in conjunction with an antidepressant and is addictive but not a controlled substance. Its called Jailhouse Heroin. I flushed them down the toilet. I refuse to become another statistic. Too many soldiers and DV survivors who desperately seek help end up becoming legal junkies due to Big Pharmas greed. Especially Astra Zeneca (manufacturer of Seroquel. Now Im back to square one and feeling even more lost, hopeless, alone, and defeated than before. Zoloft can only do so much. I self medicated with liquor last night (and had panic attacks again this morning after having been free of them for several months). What methods of treatment have other survivors had success with.
