It is heart-wrenching to sit with Arkadi and his wife, Raisy, as they share their tragic memories from the war. Arkadi still weeps as he shares the horrific story of being forced to leave his mother, father, brother, and sister behind to die. News spread that all the Jews in Arkadi’s ghetto would be executed the next day. In unimaginable desperation, Arkadi’s mother compelled her young son to flee into the night with the hope that at least one member of her family might survive. Today, one of the most powerful ways any of us can say, “Never again,” is to demonstrate God’s love by standing with the “least of these.” Thousands of elderly Holocaust survivors, like Arkadi and his wife, live in poverty all over the former Soviet Union and Israel. With Passover less than three weeks away, the need is urgent! Please help us Fill the Pantry by responding generously with a gift of one, two, or even three food boxes “in behalf of the hungry” (Isaiah 58:10). Each box is filled with a month’s worth of basic food necessities, such as flour, oil, and fresh produce. It also contains everything needed to prepare the Passover seder.
