HELP US FIND OUT KIKOS HISTORY - (Please share) Recently, our new team member, ‘Equestrian Excellence Kiko’ made his stage debut in the Australian Opera, ‘Carmen’ at the Sydney Opera house and Melbourne Arts Centre. Carmen is a vibrant, energetic Opera, with lots of lively performances from 30 singers and dancers on a very small stage. Kiko’s role as Escamillo, the toredor’s horse, had him standing only metres from the orchestra pit, whilst all the energy happened around him. For a ‘first timer’ he was a true professional and with his golden coat was definitely a favourite. A newspaper article with pictures of Kiko being ridden by our dog Hekan was circulated world wide, He has appeared in London newspapers and blogs all over the world. We purchased Kiko in 2011, at this time his name was ‘Ed”. He came to us as a bit of a wayward fellow, a golden haired child with a fairly strong will and a healthy opinion of what he wanted - or didn’t want to do. From what we can gather he had spent approximately 3 month in the 3 previous homes prior to us purchasing him. The previous owner purchased Kiko from the Byron Bay area through the Trading Post newspaper, and unfortunately our research into his history stops there. Some one must know him, he is very cheeky with lots of personality, loves to be around people and will come galloping up the paddock just to be with you. He will come up to the car and stick his head in the window, looking for suitable titbits. He has obviously been in a place where he was treated well. And had good basic training, but he is also a bit of a rascal and had learnt a few tricks along the way! Although we can’t seem to determine any recognizable brands on him, he has some really unforgettable scars on his body. One would imagine that he has been wrapped up in a fence at one time and still carries the scars from that incident. We assume he was nursed back to health as he is a very ‘human’ friendly boy. • On the nearside of his neck he has a large scar halfway between his ears and shoulder, possibly as a result of a steel star spike, • running down and under his neck are 3 or 4 lines that look like wire scars, which run from the big scar down and around his throat. • On his nearside thigh he has a long scar which looks an incomplete ‘T’ • His ears have scars which look like they were from wire • On his off side flank there is another large scar on his off side flank We think he could possibly be an Appaloosa as he has white spots on his off side rump and thigh, and speckled skin, both Appaloosa traits.. He has a white star and is approximately 15.1hh and around 9/10 years old. Someone suggested he could be a horse register as Hollywood Hunch, to date cant find any recent owners of this horse If only he could talk we are sure he would have some great yarns to tell. Please share so this reaches as many people as possible so hopefully we can unlock his history.
