HELP WANTED: Facebook Looking to Hire 1,200 People (#socialmedia info) Looking for a job? Facebook may be looking for you. Reuters reported that the social network is looking to fill nearly 1,200 positions \in the near term,\ with many of those related to its Oculus VR virtual-reality acquisition, its desire to deploy drones to boost Internet connectivity and growth at its data centers. The hiring spree would boost the social network’s stable of 8,348 full-time employees as of the end of last September by up to 14 percent, according to Reuters, which added that 54 of the jobs listed on the Facebook Careers site were for positions at Oculus VR. Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg noted the company’s global expansion in an interview with Reuters, saying: We are an ambitious company run by an ambitious CEO (Mark Zuckerberg). Our users are growing and our business is growing, and we want to support that. Facebook Seattle site lead Paul Carduner told Reuters last week: We’re growing as fast as we can, where the \can\ part is really a factor of how many people we can absorb while maintaining a strong culture. Analysts interviewed by Reuters viewed the news in a positive light, with Colin Sebastian of Robert Baird saying: There’s a fairly direct correlation between their investment in people and servers and infrastructure, and their ability to remain competitive. Sterne, Agee & Leach analyst Arvind Bhatia estimated that Facebook’s annual revenue could reach $30 billion in a few years, telling Reuters: To get to that level, they’re going to have to get people now.
