~~HENLEY HISTORY~~ ~~SHILOH~~ Don Henley had spent most of his early music career playing with the same bunch of guys. The bands The Four Speeds and Felicity were made up of high school buddies Richard Bowden, Jerry Surratt, and Joey Brown. In 1969 Joey Brown decided to leave Felicity and Jerry Surratt was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident in front of the guys during a vacation. Regrouping after Jerry Surratts death the band added Mike Bowden (who was Richards cousin) on Bass and Richard Bowden moved to lead guitar. They added Jim Ed Norman on keyboards to replace Jerry Surratt and they wanted to enhance their line-up by adding a second guitarist. They found guitarist Al Perkins who also played pedal steel after attending a concert by a group called FOXX. With this lineup they changed their name for the final time to SHILOH. In 1968 Henley and the other members of Felicity were buying bell-bottom pants in a shop on McKinney Avenue in Dallas, TX when they bumped into fellow Texan Kenny Rogers. They invited Kenny Rogers to come see their performance that night. He was impressed and told them if they could get to California to look him up. In 1970 they now named SHILOH moved to LA and moved into Kenny Rogers house for 4 to 5 month while Rogers produced their first album. The self titled album on AMOS records (which was owned by Rogers) produced one regional hit called Simple Little Down Home Rock and Roll Love Song for Rosie written by Michael McGinnis.
