HENRI JARI WROTE: There is an assumption making rounds that has put many in a defensive mood over nothing. The feeling that MCP jubilated yesterday at Msowoya ascension to Speakership because it thinks the MCP will be able to control parliament & bulldoze its agenda in the august House is both unfounded & malicious aimed at tarnishing MCPs image. It has always been one of MCPs campaign promises that it will uphold the rule of law. Even Msowoya in his acceptance speech reiterated this. However to the bewilderment and surprise of some of us is that the social media is today awash with stories on how former Speakers have been independent & how the MCP will soon be disapointed by the independence of Msowoya. Who told anybody that MCP wanted Msowoya to be partisan? Get over the defensive mood. MCP only celebrated because Msowoya was its running mate and its member. Not otherwise as assumed.
