HENRY COUNTY, MO, COURTHOUSE NEWS NOTES...... HENRY COUNTY COMMISSION, HENRY COUNTY, MISSOURI. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2014, 21st DAY OF THE OCTOBER 2014 TERM. The Henry County Commission met pursuant to adjournment at the courthouse in Clinton, Missouri. Those members present were: Jim Stone-Presiding Commissioner Daniel Doll-North District Commissioner Jim Talley-South District Commissioner Rick Watson-County Clerk At 8:58 a.m. Commissioner Stone brought the meeting to order. The agenda was approved as presented. The minutes from the Tuesday December 16, 2014, meeting were read. Commissioner Doll made the motion to approve the minutes as read, Commissioner Talley seconded, motion carried. Expenditures from the following departments were approved to be paid: Circuit Drug Court, Road and Bridge, County Clerk, Court Administration, Buildings and Grounds, Circuit Clerk, Emergency Management. The commission visited about the BBQ event that KDKD wants to host on the Clinton square. They want to do more research prior to supporting the event. John Gover, Emergency Management Director, was called in to discuss Emergency Management expenses. Sandra Brownsberger, County Assessor, visited with the commission in regards to the State Tax Commission’s opinion of her retaining the Assessor position until September. There was also discussion in regards to the GIS equipment being moved into the vault of the Assessor’s Office instead of moving the equipment to the Emergency Operation Center. She also presented the commission a document from her attorney, Mike Edgett, which states it is of his opinion that the Assessor-Elect takes office on September 1, 2015 and not January 5, 2015. At 9:35 a.m. Mike Keith of Mike Keith Insurance attended the meeting to present the 2015 General Liability Policy Premiums. The premium presented was $115,556, only a $1,250 increase over the 2014 policy. After discussion Commissioner Doll made a motion to approve the 2015 policy without the terrorism provision. Commissioner Talley seconded, motion carried. At 10:10 a.m. Gregory Hard from the University Extension presented the commission an appropriation request for the 2015 budget. The Extension Office requested an additional $4,800 over 2014 appropriations. The commission discussed the request but decided to table the decision after all the General Revenue appropriations could be reviewed. Hal Ross, a 911 Board Member, visited with the commission in regards to his support to put a sales tax question on the April ballot to raise funds for 911. The commission reviewed and approved the 2015 holiday schedule. They discussed open positions in the county and individuals that had been interviewed. The commission recessed at 12:05 p.m. for lunch and reconvened at 1 p.m. in order to conduct an interview. The commission visited about the 2015 budget. The commission adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
