HERE ARE SOME BASIC TRUTHS OF THE BIBLE... .One of the reasons why many Christians get led astray today is because they do not know the Bible.......Real concern in the church today that people do not know or understand the basic Christian doctrines that have been given us by scripture and the apostles. Hymns full of truth have been replaced by boppy songs --- Sermon has been undermined and many church have short addresses – or longer entertainment fire side chats – only 25% of Christians read their bibles to any regular degree --- RESULT CHURCH does not know what it believes. Many cults claim to be Christian and even deceive those who claim to be Christian yet do not read the word. Mormon – changed name to church of the latter day saints – is now looking to change its name to The church of Jesus Christ. This will mean that people will be drawn into their false belief systems because of lack of a knowledge of the truth. I have meet people who have got saved from the Jehovah witnesses and from the Mormon who do not see any difference between what they used to believe and what Christians believe…. There is one God (Isaiah 43 v10, 44 v 6,8, John 17 v 3, 1 cor 8 v 5-6, Gal 4 v 8-9, and there are no other god’s except for Him (Isaiah 43 v 10) God is Trinity – father, Son and Holy Spirit. There is One God in three persons - Yet there is One God – One God with each person being co-equal, copowerful – coeternal with the other (2 Cor 13 v 14 1 Peter 1 v 2) God is Spirit - John 4 v 24 He is the creator and sustainer of all things – God created the physical and spiritual universe out of nothing(Gen 1 v 1 Isaiah 44 v 24) yet he himself is not created but has always existed (Psalm 90 v 2) and will always exist. He is all powerful (psalm 115v3) all knowing (1 John3 v 20) is all present (Jer 23 v 23 , 24) is is absolutely sovereign over his creation (Zech 9 v 14, 1 Tim 6 v 15 – 16) So....who is Jesus? Often this is where the cults and other religions attack the Christian truths. By making Jesus one of many or by undermining His unique identity and work of redemption First thing to say is that Jesus is God ( John 1 v 1, 14 10 v 30 – 33, 20 v 28, col 2 v 9, Phil 2 v 5 – 8, Heb 1 v 8) Jesus became man – incarnate (God became man) Phil 2 v 5 – 8) Jesus has two natures – He is fully God and fully man. He is not a hybrid of half man and half God, But in eternity and identity is God who became man, yet in identity was still God. ( col 2 v 9, 1 Tim 2 v 5) Jesus lived a completely sinless life… was tempted in ever way like ourselves yet was without sin. ( 1 Peter 2 v 22, Jesus is the only way to God the Father (John 14 v 6, Matt 11 v 27, Luke 10 v 22) The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5 v 3-4) He is not a force, but a person (Acts 13 v 2) He works to sanctify – assure – equip God’s people in the salvation they have in Christ. He is a seal on all who are Born Again guaranteeing their inheritance in Christ. Man who is He Man did not evolve – he was created ( Gen 1 v 26) He is the crown of God’s creation is at the heart of God’s love and plan for the universe. Man was made perfect in a perfect relationship with God and was without sin. Adam and Eve where real people ( Gen 3 v 20, 5 v 1 1 Tim 2 v 13) Physical and Spiritual Death entered into human experience because of Adams sin (Rom 5 v 12 – 15) Sin separates and destroys our relationship with God (Isaiah 59 v 2) All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is no way to earn our way into heaven by our own good deeds or moral living. .
