HERE IS A BEAUTIFUL STORY OF AN OLD RICH WOMAN WHO HAD A CARELESS ATTITUDE & ONLY SOUGHT AFTER HER WORLDLY PLEASURES. There is an old Christian legend about a rich and famous lady that spent her life seeking entertainment and living in luxury; but as she got older, she began to pray and think about Eternal Life and the Kingdom of God. She sincerely thought that she would have a wonderful place there. She was convinced that a very powerful and rich person on earth would also be powerful and rich in Heaven. So God decided to show her in what way she would truly achieve greater joy in Heaven. He spoke to her in a dream, and her Guardian Angel offered to take her to Heaven to see what is awaiting the blessed ones who go there. Of course, she agreed. When they arrived, they took a walk through a beautiful valley of flowers, and on both sides were immense palaces, each one more beautiful than the next. “To whom do these homes belong?” She asked the Angel. “To various people who were pleasing to God,” he said. And he began to recite their names. Soon the two came to a place that was just being built. Many Angels were working really hard. “To whom will this palace go?” She asked, as she looked at the beautiful home that was just being finished. “It will be your neighbor’s palace,” the Angel responded. “What? It will be my neighbor’s – that poor woman with so many miserable children?” “Yes,” he assured her. “This is the palace for her!” Then she saw a really modest house, built with very poor materials. “Whose is this?” She asked. “It is yours,” said the Angel. “How is that possible?” She was shocked! The Angel said, “You see, here they are building this modest house with the materials that they received from you, and they are very earthly. The one who sends us building materials of Heavenly weight – the gold that comes from prayer, pearls that come from good deeds, marble made of much suffering and penance – the angels build that person a palace made of that! Your neighbor sent us many of these materials with her hard life, which was pleasing to God. That is why she will have such a beautiful palace here. What you sent us was enough for this little plastic house.” After the dream, the lady woke up decided to send more precious materials to Heaven by helping others so that she too would receive a worthy place in the company of all saints!” (Matthew 6:19-21) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 25:40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me. (Matthew 5:7) Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Revelation 22:12) Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works.
