FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2014 Suburban Spinal Implant Maker Relocates To Huntley Today A Hoffman Estates-based medical company will begin relocating to Huntley today, according to an elated announcement Thursday from Village Economic Development officials. The closely held Life Spine company and its 50 employees will take over the interminably empty former Duo-Fast building on Quality Drive next to the Tollway they said. According to Crains Chicago Business Wednesday, Life Spines been hunting for a new HQ for three years and passed up $1 million per year in Texas tax breaks. Neither the State nor the Village is providing an incentive for the company to move to Huntley. The Village has been coordinating with Life Spine on moving their headquarters to Huntley since late spring, said Margo Griffin, Huntley Business Development Coordinator. Life Spine designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spinal disorders. It had about $28 million in sales last year and expects to do a lot better soon. The company holds 50 patents on spinal implant gadgets and about 60 more pending. The FDA OKed one of them just last month. The Duo-Fast offices have sat vacant for the past 15 years. Schaumburgs Illinois Tool Works bought the nailgun company in 1999 promising not to move its headquarters from Huntley, then did the following year. Life Spine represents the perfect kickoff to Huntley’s goal of establishing the eastern end of the Huntley Corporate Park as the Northwest suburbs preferred destination for firms specializing in hi-tech and innovation oriented industries,” said Mayor Chuck Sass in a statement.
