HERE WE GO AGAIN! Representative Kent Williams has stated the county mayor is considerably over paid. It is obvious he does not have a clue as to what the job entails. Most likely he is comparing his part time role as a State Representative to that of a full time County Mayor. Per Mayor Steve Godsey who has served in both roles there is no comparison. Representative Williams has stated on numerous occasions the long four hour drive to Nashville is getting to be a little too much for him. With this do you think he would be able to work an average of 55 hours a week; virtually on call 24/7? The answer is most likely NOT. In 2009 when my family and friends approached me to run for this office I made a major personal commitment to not only dedicate as much time as necessary to properly do the job but also a serious financial commitment. I vowed to not accept any monetary campaign contributions, thus the office of County Mayor is not obligated to future political pay backs. I can always with a clear conscience do what I feel is in the best interest of the majority of Carter County Citizens not just the select few. Mr. Williams on the other hand has taken tens of thousands of dollars from lobbyist and political action committees and his voting record clearly shows where his allegiance is; definitely not with the citizens who entrusted him to the office.
