HERO ME. Everytime I hear the word HERO mentioned, My neighbour’s ”HERO JET” is conjured up in my mind. I’d never been bothered before to know exactly who a hero is, but atleast today I have been by some form of cognition irritating my Medulla ... I thouht I should establish a hero and I’ve undertaken it. For my hero, I have more paints but little time to do the painting. It was said that during colonial times, Africans were mistreated by the white pple. I heard our grand fathers would carry heavy loads under the strict supervision of the sturbbon whites. What I saw a while ago is the image of that. Six dark coloured men carrying a heavy load under supervision of a light skinned man who would instruct them to slow down..... Difference is that the light skin man is not British, the dark skin are doing it at will and it is allowed. My question regarding that is; who really is a Hero to celebrate today? I’d celebrate all the said heroes who fought for independence of our country, but am ambivalent to do that. Rather, I’d celebrate first, William Samoei Ruto for what you may like or not. His stand regarding Mau eviction. To the victims of the eviction, Ruto is a hero for takinng up the matter to the far he reached. His stand against the current constitution make him a heroin in the land and world of politic. If you don’t agree, ask Raila Odinga why I say he is hero. Being minister in various ministries, who doesnt kno how popular he became. He did not become a hero because of ’tyranny of numbers’ but for being concerned with what can liberate people from the inferiority due to skin colour. I know very well how he wishes he had power to transform this country government to be citizen driven. Many other things including ICC make him a hero. Second, I celebrate all the heroes who are genuinly heroes, by virtue of their stand and effort, politically, religious, socially, financially, et cetra. Whoever has sacrificed their valuables for others, generously & charitably, I salute you. I however discredit those who jealously brag of their supiriority over others, hate others and even wish others ill. You can never be a hero by that. If you don’t want to see a good thing achieved, except if it benefits you first, or dont want to give credit to the deserving for fear of being overtaken, or bowing to your younget brother, I bet with you, you are never a hero. Third, I salute Mzee Moi. Sitting on that seat for 24 rough years required a heroin heart. Heroes, be glad and enjoy the many praises which to me are unworth. HEROES DAY.
