HH Must Apologise for Insulting Chitimukulu – MMD Youths The following statement was circulated by the Movement for Multiparty Democracy Youth Coordinator: Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development must apologise for insulting the Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Henry Kanyanta Sosala by claiming a fake political endorsement, says MMD Youth Coordinator for Lusaka Reuben Mambwe. “It is unacceptable and offensive for HH to try to take advantage of traditional leaders for his own political gain,” said Mambwe. “The Paramount Chief graciously received HH and gave him a blessing, like anybody and everybody else he hosts, but then this inexperienced politician turns around and insults our father by making fake news. We demand an apology.” According to the youth coordinator, it is deeply concerning that a presidential candidate would think he could lie about such an endorsement without being exposed. “HH says he wants unity, but this is a very worrying show of his character,” he said. “We need leadership that is calm, that is respectful, that is experienced, and that won’t disturb Zambia’s peace by insulting traditional leaders, who should not be directly pulled into politics.” Mambwe concluded by saying that this is yet another example why Zambians cannot afford to experiment in the transition period.
