HH SPILLS THE BEANS - IMPLICATES ELIAS CHIPIMO & EDITH NAWAKWI AS BENEFICIARIES IN THE ZCCM PRIVATISATION SCANDAL (I will keep telling you these stories) In a recent facebook posted by imminent Zambian political satirist, Roy Clarke aka Kalaki, he ranked HH and Chipimo as number 1 and 2 repectively in order of credibility. But no sooner has HH poured cold water on that ranking. News coming in indicates that HH, in an apparent bid to deflect the negative media publicity hovering over his head concerning his role in the sale of ZCCM assets to Glenco and Anglo, has hinted that Elias Chipimo junior, NAREP President and former minister of finance in the Chiluba administration - Edith Nawakwi, now FDD President, also benefitted. It appears that HHs accusations have a ring of credibilty to them, though his revelations are unlikely to be heeded since it was he who was the prime disposal manager tasked with the job of giving a true and fair value of ZCCM assests in line expected International Audting Standards (IASs). You all know the story. Anyway, it has come to light that political light-weight and lawyer Chipimo had his hand in the privatisation cookie jar as a legal conveyancing agent in the privatisation process. Lawyers usually charge a 10% standard rate on all client property conveyancing based on auditor evaluation. People, the sale of our mines is shrouded in a lot of secrecy. It is highly likely, taking HHs word for it, that HH and Chipimo could have crossed paths in the discharge of their respective professional duties. What is unknown is how much Corpus Globe (Chipimos firm) benefited from the transaction. If it is 10%, then Chipimo should be one of the wealthiest Zambians alive though he doesnt lead an ostentatious lifestyle befitting an economic plunder. What is public knowledge is that Chipimo once chartered an aircraft to fly his critically ill mother from Luapula to Lusaka UTH were she unfortunately passed on due to poor health services according to Chipimo. That incident alone, is said to have sparked Chipimos political career. But it also leaves no doubt about Chipimos financial muscle. Of course this is history. But there is recent news, damning evidence that paints Chipimo in a bad light, and as an interested party in the mines, comes in the wake of the recent 600 million Dollars VAT refund debacle between the mines and Ministry of finance alexander chikwanda, where Chipimo took a resolute stand in favour of the mines (his supposed clients) were he unequivocally lobbyed and hassled old man Chikwanda to honour the payment to the mines, of which he, Chipimo would obviously receive another 10% gratification if the lobby was succesful. Chipimo was perharps the most adamant politician pushing treasury to pay the mines VAT, and to that effect, he published a long rumbling article, a legal argument actually, and published it in the post - full page (15,000 Kwacha). You know the story you who still read the post. Where that leaves chipimo and NAREP, is for you the voter to decide. But what about the humble kindly gentle Nawakwi? Well, she was finance minister at the heart of sale of the mines and if anyone knows where the contract of sale is, its her. What is certain is that she did nothing to stop the looting. Where that leave her, again, is for you the FDD voter to decide. What we observe is that almost every politician we have today has a history with the lurid and hurried sale of our mines. You have been informed before hand.
