HI FreeBSD users, I am new to the FreeBSD world just 5 hours into it ;) . And obviously trying to understand a few things. I have installed freebsd 10.1. I have installed vim editor. I have used the command pkg install vim. Everything is good. Now what I am seeing is that packages can be installed using the ports tree also. So what is the basic difference in using the pkg install method and ports tree method?? Which one should be preffered in a production environment...????
