HI..I am just writing this off the top of my head as I have to head off to my real job....Welcome Friend Association (Rainbow Camp) is seriously looking into creating a group home for LGBT youth. Over 30 percent of our campers came from group homes and/or foster care. It would be great if we could have a place for these kids to be placed where they could get individual support - specific health care - etc. As you know, and CBC reported last week - LGBT youth make the up largest part of the homeless people in Canada - the facility would be most likely be located in Northern Ontario, and I would hope partner with the medical school in North Bay etc - all sorts of partnerships/supports could be developed. So, why this quick note - leads - I am currently looking for contacts in help in starting a group home - government contacts, homelessness falls under Municipal governance ...if you have any suggestions/comments - contacts, etc please contact me at [email protected] We are looking for startup funding, strategic planning, etc....one admin position....one of the goal would be to provide emergency shelter for youth throughout the province.
