HI everyone! At this point for those who are outspoken (thank you!) and for those who chose to sit by the side and watch . .. majority is that we hold the reunion in Miami. GREAT points were made for both sides BUT the primary point is this: we graduated IN Miami, not Orlando. IF those outside the area of Miami can make it to Miami, we would LOVE to see you; if you cannot, then we hope you will join us at the next one. That said, the next question becomes summer or fall? Again, there will be MANY opinions. Here is how this decision will be based: how many of our classmates via work or children, will have too difficult of a time to make a fall reunion? Again, not EVERYONE will be pleased nor will everyone be able to attend. And while it is hotter than all get out in July, the fact that it is the most conducive time for those mentioned above will be taken into consideration. The idea is to try & get a date soon so those who need to plan in advance for time off can have ample time to get their requests in. Thoughts of WHERE to hold our event: the Grove that it has plenty of walking areas so those w/o cars will not have the need to rent one OR at another venue?? In our area of Miami, there are not a lot of venues to host a crowd (assume 150) w/o costing a fortune. There are several nice hotels that would fit the bill in the Kendall area. Since I am actively planning my daughters Bat Mitzvah, I am becoming versed on costs associated with having out of town guests & making their stay in Miami as cost effective as possible. From all perspectives to include hotel & the event itself. Tapping our classmates who have hosted reunions already that did NOT include a planner is helpful as it gives us much insight on how to proceed without one person putting out any monies and worrying about getting it back. All thoughts welcome.
