HIGHWAY 169 INFORMATION MEETING – The Minnesota Department of Transportation, has scheduled a public information event on the Highway 169 project. Here is info from MnDOT about the event….. “Businesses and residents are encouraged to review plans for changes to access on Highway 169 on the north end of Saint Peter. An open house is set for Monday, August 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Senior Center at the Saint Peter Community Center. The open house is scheduled prior to the Saint Peter City Council meeting which begins at 7 p.m. and during which an official hearing on the Highway 169 project will take place. Staff from the Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to make safety improvements at intersections along Highway 169 in 2014. The intersections with St. Julien Street and Highway 22 are targeted for revisions because they have above average crash rates. Safety improvements are also planned that impact intersections with Union Street, Ritt Street and Dranttel Street. 2014 is also the year when MnDOT plans to resurface the southbound lanes of Highway 169 and raise two miles of flood-prone roadway between Saint Peter and Le Sueur. MnDOT has similar plans for Highway 169 from Mankato to Saint Peter in 2016. For more information on the flood mitigation projects visit dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/floodmitigation/ .
