HIGHWAY 36 FULL ROAD CLOSURE COMING: Phase I on the Highway 36 project has been extended to also include paving 2-11 lanes for traffic to travel on until Phase 2 starts; however blasting and excavation work is expected to be completed in May. Phase one will be completed by end of June 2014, and the entire project will be completed by late 2014. A contractor has not yet been selected for Phase 2 of the project. During Phase 2, there will be a full-week closure of US 36 to rebuild an approximate one-mile length of road around mile marker 18. US 36 will be closed at the south Apple Valley Road intersection to Larimer County Road 47 (Big Elk Meadows) to all motorists besides local traffic and those making deliveries to local addresses. During the road closure, which is expected to occur sometime between July 7 and August 28, Apple Valley Road will be used as a Local Traffic Only detour. A two-week notice will be publicized prior to the closure. Please look for more information about a public meeting that will occur in late May or early June to educate the locals about the detour and credentialing process. All other motorists will need to use alternate routes, especially via State Highway 7 between Lyons and Estes Park, as no through traffic will be allowed through during the closure and major delays are expected!
