HIIT (high intensity interval training) cardio is more effective - TopicsExpress

HIIT (high intensity interval training) cardio is more effective for fat loss than long duration steady state cardio. Unless you are training strictly for cardiovascular endurance, there is no need to do cardio for longer than 30 minutes. (Which is awesome because I HATE cardio). HIIT is cardio that is done in intervals, typically lasting 1-2 minutes each. A few examples of HIIT would be incline treadmill walk (1 min) then jog (1 min). For a total of 15-20 minutes. Also, HIIT could be done without equipment, with bodyweight exercises done back to back. An example of what I do is on the Stairmaster usually between 15-20 minutes total. Mid level for 1 min. Then crank it up all the way 1 min. This is more difficult than steady state cardio, so it should really kick your butt the entire time. By doing this you are burning tons of calories in a short amount of time, and not burning off your lean muscle mass. Try this cardio next time you workout! #HIIT #cardio #HIITcardio #keepyourmuscle #health #nutrition #healthy #motivation #inspired #inspiration #workout #cleaneating #fitness
