HILLSIDE HELPS-“And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” (Rev.19:15) There is coming a day when the wrath of God will be poured out in full force upon the earth. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords will come back in the clouds of His Glory, at the end of the Great Tribulation and will speak the Word of defeat and destruction upon all His enemies on the earth. In a single word His enemies will be smitten. The Psalmist wrote about this: “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.” (Ps 2:8-9) While the devil and demons daily steal, kill, and destroy on this earth, as families break up and the morals reach down into the depths of depravity, when it appears that there is no longer any rights for the unborn, when children are abused and murdered around our world, and the blood of the innocents cry out, when corruption permeates government and society and few can be trusted, one may ask is there no justice? Some of you have become true victims of swindlers and hucksters. The thieves ride the roads in search another opportunity to break in the homes of the hard workers or the elderly. When lawmen break the law instead of upholding the law we fear for lack of protection. When judges lock up the innocent and set free the guilty we just shake our head in amazement. When a group of mostly liberal old men and women make the law instead of rightly interpreting the Constitution, we are left living by the rule of Justices who have forgotten about true justice. When preachers stand in pulpits and try to please everybody with political correctness, forsaking the Truth of God, the listeners become compromised and calloused. When young people gather in gangs bent on hatred and violence defying the authority of good lawmen society further divides. When the color of a man’s skin predetermines a man’s prejudice or guilt the fires calling for retaliation are fanned and fueled. When the god haters and atheists invade our towns demanding the removal of God from school and government property, we see mass murders and teacher abuse. Is there an answer for these ungodly actions and attitudes? Yes the answer is found in the Bible, the Word of God. In it is found forgiveness for the sinner who repents and surrenders to Jesus as Lord. What is also found in the Bible is the promise of ultimate victory for the Christian. The Bible concludes with the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. In it we read the way things are going to end. This is God’s Word which is true and relevant for this day. In the end all sin and injustice will be judged by the Judge who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When Jesus comes back to the earth the second time, it will be to judge the world. All those who are the enemies of God will be smitten and destroyed. In one Word He will defeat every foe. The final battle will be the Battle of Armageddon. I have read the final chapter and though things are getting terrible on our earth, God has the answer the children of God already know. We win. (Bro Jerry McNeer)
