HINDU WOMAN- A CHILD BEARING MACHINE. Sakshi Maharaj, a BJP MP, is again in news, as usual for wrong reasons. Earlier he had called Mahatma Gandhi’s killer a patriot. He had to tender an apology in the Parliament. Now he has come out with another statement which is equally controversial. He has asked every Hindu woman to produce four children. He has assigned duties also to each one of them: one can work for the country, one can protect the borders, one can join the RSS and one can serve parents. Maharaj has made this remark in the context of Muslim community forming a majority in the country one day because they produce many children.One Muslim having four wives and produces forty children.This theory needs examination. At the time of partition Muslim elites-educated and well off- migrated to Pakistan and the poor and illieterate, by and large, remained in India. Muslims need education and employment and guidance in family planning. If this is achieved, they would observe family planning. In Kerala there is a sizeable section of Muslim population. Since there is high literacy in Kerala and efficient health services with family planning clinics to give guidance for birth control, rate of population growth of Muslims is less than that of Hindus in UP and Bihar. This proves Sakshi Maharaj’s thesis wrong. Our PM Modi speaks a lot on many things. He is keeping silent on the irrational statements of people like Shaksshi Maharaj. He should speak on this issue. Or at least he can tweet.
