HISTORIC and CRITICAL ruling today in NOLA by Judge Barbier ruling - TopicsExpress

HISTORIC and CRITICAL ruling today in NOLA by Judge Barbier ruling that BP acted with gross negligence causing the Gulf oil disaster and that Transocean and Halliburton share a portion of the blame. The judge wrote that BP made profit-driven decisions during the drilling of the well that led to the deadly blowout. This means BP is liable for the highest fine possible under the Clean Water Act, as much as $4,300 per barrel spilled. The final stage of the trial is in January. You can read MUCH more about these issues in my book, BLACK TIDE: THE DEVASTATING IMPACT OF THE GULF OIL SPILL, and in my forthcoming Harpers Magazine feature on my submarine investigation to the site of the BP Macondo well at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
