HISTORICAL - Canandaigua Treaty Six Nations to mark Canandaigua Treaty. - Rochester Democrat and Chronicle A meeting of Six Nations leaders and Obama administration officials in Washington, D.C., that had been scheduled for Monday to mark the anniversary was canceled Friday because of a death. The treaty was signed in Canandaigua in 1794, and allowed the six nations, or Haudenosaunee, which includes the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora nations, to maintain sovereignty to make laws as a Native American nation.
