HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF EDE. Ede Mapo Arogun is a town in Osun State, Nigeria. Ede is one of the older towns of Yoruba People. The old Ede (Ede-Ile) traditionally said to have been formed about 1500 by Timi Agbale, a warlord and hunter sent by Alaafin of Old Oyo to establish a settlement to protect the Oyo caravan route to Benin. The traditional ruler is known as Timi Agbale. Ede is predominantly Muslim town. Timi Kubolaje Agbonran established the present Ede and have two Local Governments, namely Ede North and South. Ede people trade in farming, trading and commercial activities. We are well known globally for our hospitality.....(to be continue)
