HISTORY ALIVE FESTIVAL - SUNDAY AUGUST 10TH From 1pm. Tickets: FREE. just come along! Alexander’s Host Civil War Festival on The Green at Rufus Court. Sunday August 10th Alexander’s will be stepping back in time this Sunday to the time of the English Civil War. As a compliment to the Sealed Knot re-enactments taking place on the Deans Field there will be dancing, storytelling and even a maypole on The Green. All will be 17th century in style and costume and will be a perfect pit stop after the rigours of the battlefield. The fully costumed Adlington Folk Dancers will be performing dances dating from the time of Oliver Cromwell up to Jane Austen and the folk group The Forlorn Hope will be playing the Hurdy Gurdies and English Bagpipes as well as answering questions about them afterwards. Singing will be provided by The Werburgers and traditional costumed storytelling performed throughout the day by Tom Goodale in the courtyard
