HISTORY IS FUN ~ Bob Caplinger 35 YEARS AGO There were 109 persons present at the 49th annual Hawk reunion for descendants of Daniel, Jonathan and Andrew Hawk. Mrs. Vera Happel was the eldest person present with Jared, eight-week old son of Mr. and Mrs. David Todd, Holton, the youngest. The program was presented by Robin Foster, Tonya Smith, Heather Foster, Michael Weishaar and Mrs. Merle Sanders. Officers for the 1979 reunion will be: President, Mrs. Merle Sanders; Vice President, Mrs. Dorothy Pendelton; Secretary, Mrs. Steve Westermann; and Treasurer, Shirley Hawk. Gary Woodward and Josh were in Wichita to get Mark Hegarty and David Woodward who had participated in the State Lion’s Band activities the past week. They attended the concert on Saturday night. Mike Hegarty had taken the boys down on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hundley, Topeka, Mrs. Clay Hundley, Horton, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Eckert and sons of Effingham attended the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Horlacher at Colby on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Kiehl, Tecumseh, were appointed to make arrangements for the next class reunion in five years for the 1948 ACCHS class. Those coming from a distance to attend the 30th reunion at ACCHS recently were John Benjamin, Kellogg, Idaho; Carrol Hamon, Elk Horn, Neb.; Dale Gigstad, Ames, Iowa; Virginia (Hegarty) Miller, Denver; Edith (Jackson) Fanjoy, Tempe, Ariz.
